Last week Thursday I found out that one of my co-workers on the client side is an Aber (someone who studies the Abraham-Hicks material).
We’ve been on the project for 15 months. We didn’t have a real conversation before Thursday. She kept joking with me that one day she would find something to talk to me about. I’m the project lead, but every time she came to me with a topic, I would defer her to someone else. Posted on my office wall in pink is the Abraham Hicks’ quote:
A happy life is a string of happy moments. But most people don’t allow the happy moments because they are too busy trying to get a happy life.
It’s been up for over a year!
Seems like it would have happened anyway, right?
Consider this. A few weeks before, I started working deliberately on feeling better at work. I figured that I spend more than half my life there, I may as well enjoy it. I travel out of town every week for work. I love my home. I leave sunny, warm Florida for 20 degree weather. And the mood at work can sometimes be quite, well, contentious. I asked for this job. I like the challenge, but I was craving a more friendly environment.
I dusted off some of my spiritual tools like the Placemat process and lists of positive aspects. In 2 days, we got great news from the client that one of our projects was generating significant revenue. A few days later, I had a conversation with my manager about some positive changes we could make in our environment.
Then, my co-worker saw the quote and we kicked off the conversation. I found one of my people in an otherwise challenging environment.
Was it just a coincidence or was it the direct manifestation of me refocusing my energy? What do you think?
